Do you think cross dressing drag queens are conflicting with what biological women have worked hard for?

Question: Do you think cross dressing drag queens are conflicting with what biological women have worked hard for?

So I am watching RuPaul Drag Race and I noticed that the drags all portrayed women as these glamor, overtly feminine, cliche type of women. I mean I don't go around batting my eyes at men or exaggerating the switch in my hips. What type of women are these men trying to be? What Idea about women are they making fun of. Women are great.

Its DRAG. Drag is about dramatization and is something that often pokes fun at say, feminity, or masculinity, which are the most common drag types. Its parody. Drag queens are not trying to BE women, they are still men who like to be men and are doing drag for their enjoyment and/ or to entertain others. RuPaul said "I do not impersonate females! How many women do you know who wear seven-inch heels, four-foot wigs, and skintight dresses? " He also said, "I don't dress like a woman; I dress like a drag queen! " Here is a good video that explains what drag is youtube.com/ watch?v= yGLE9IGoYsM The origins of the word 'drag' are controversial but one accepted origin is that it came from Shakespeare- It was traditionally only applicable to men dressing as women, and was an acronym that stood for 'DRessed As Girl'. Women in those days didn't act and so everyone knew that it was a man playing the part of a woman that was entertaining them. Drag has since evolved in many ways from that original 'DR.A.G' note in the margins of a play script. edit:/ / its not 'making fun of' in a mean way, its like...satire. They are poking fun at the styled hair and makeup and high heels that society deems appropriate for women by doing it in an extremely dramatic way.

They need to get laid too. But I agree some drag queens slaughter what a *REAL* woman looks and acts like.

Are you having trouble, telling them apart?

I don't think so. I mean isn't drag supposed to be dramatic? I have seen a few that really were just nothing more than a sick man in a dress but quite honestly most of those guys put a lot of effort into what they are doing. Some of them are even quite hot as women. (bastards! hahahaha)

Drag queens aren't trying to be women, they are role playing for the entertainment of those watching. Its for show, people enjoy it, its often taking things well beyond their normal lines, and most of all, its not done to be taken as a female seriously. Alternatively, do drag kings make men look bad? Possibly, but most likely not, again, they are performers and its done for fun. Now as someone who is transsexual, you should probably be attacking me instead, as I actually try to live my life as a woman, and I do make foolish mistakes at times, but that's a learning experience, and everyone of every gender goes through that to a degree. Also, I can think of plenty of examples of "cross dressing " you would probably consider the normal garb of an everyday man or woman. Also, faux queens are cool, they are women acting as drag queens for show.

I don't see the correlation myself... go back to watching bike stacks on youtube.

The point of drag is to portray an exaggerated form of gender. Drag Queens dress and act very, very femme because they are, in essence, mocking women and femininity.

No, I don't believe so. The drag queens I have seen in my life are not mocking women; they are parodying -- usually affectionately -- particular "looks " or particular celebrities. If anything, I'd say it's pretty clear that drag queens are a lot more in touch with their own femininity than a lot of men are, and that drag, at its origins, is about having a context in which to express femininity that is usually forbidden to men.

Its called ENTERTAINMENT. Stop taking it too personal. And women did not "work hard for " what God gave them.

Myself I think it is those damn DRAG KINGS, that are making a mockery of men. It is absolutely shameful! Flaunting their packed peckers, and false beards, and dressing up like Cowboys and CEOs, and acting all "macho ". How can "real men " compete with that? Oh, I forgot, its all meant to be humor and social commentary, and silliness, oh, is that how?
