Question for transgender/cross dressers (see inside)?

Question: Question for transgender/cross dressers (see inside)?

(Posted by: ~Penny Laine~ on 2009-02-08 13:47:26)

I know of a woman who used to own her own business. She had rented a little office place and made a boutique. Her clients were transgenders/ cross dressers. She would go shopping for them and then have "parties ". They would all come and try on the new clothes and drink wine . . . . She made a lot of money and had a lot of clients. A friend of mine just got into the beauty business and needs to make more money and is thinking of starting a business like this. Is this something you think you would do pay someone to do?

Heh why not? I find transgenders/ cross dressers to be much kinder and eaiser working with then straight-edge ones.

Actually my partner and I are both Transsexual women, and working on setting up the same idea.. remember transgender is considered a umbrella term that primarily covers Cross-dressers.. there's presently only about 3 - 4 stores nation wide that specifically cater to transgender community. is it possible to make a lot of money, and are there people willing to pay for such services, yes. however, you run into a road block, in that the majority of cross-dressers are very shy with regards to strangers who are not already involved in the community in some shape or form. if I can suggest if your friend is serious, that she needs to locate and attend local support groups, and possibly involve herself in the "drag " scene. also educate herself with regards to the entire transgender community and those people who may be involved with. Remember, I said I'm a transsexual woman, I've never been to a "drag show " and personally avoid places where I'm likely to get hurt or even discriminated against.. otherwise, for my own hair and or nails I go to a regular salon.. most people haven't a clue about my medical history. as to makeup, I pretty much learned how to apply it growing up and with practice the same as any other woman. I don't generally wear it unless I'm going out for the day.. however drag-queens and CD's effectively do stage makeup, and use various techniques to cover their facial hair..

Sounds fun to me - where do I sign-up ?

Absolutely! Unfortunately, this answer doesn't necessarily fit the real issues. There are most certainly other questions to be asked (as followup) to your friend... 1) Is the town in which your friend lives large enough to support this type of business? AND does the town have a medium/ large gay area? 2) Who are the competition for this type of business? (There are "dressing boutiques " in many large towns, and several are VERY good. Can your friend compete?) 3) Does your friend know stage makeup? (Makeup on transgender/ cross dressers is far different than with women.) 4) Is your friend willing to lose other "less open minded " customers to gain new clientele? 5) Is your friend strong-willed, and of such character to overcome any associated stigma if the business is "outed "? Good luck and best wishes...

I think that is one great idea as that type of specialist story will always have nice clientele will to spend.

There are possibilities there, but may I add the following... I, as a long time married transvestite, was given the following scenario many "moons " ago... My wife basically got me started into c/ d - t/ v ism (although I did have a great interest in the lifestyle beforehand), and used to do all my make up educating me re emulating females as we went along. Until our son was "due " and she said that if I was going to continue on in this "vein " I had best learn how to do my own make up as she wouldn't have the time once our son was born. She taught me all the traits, and I had to go it by myself afterwards, which also involved having to shop for femme lingerie, apparel, make up etc by myself.. I, to this day, have NO regrets about doing the aforementioned, in fact I thoroughly enjoy it and it makes me feel more femme and dependent on NO ONE to continue on within my lifestyle. I now have a very extensive wardrobe including 42 pair of HIGH HEELS, and my wife still buys me items from time to time. What I'm getting at is this... If a person is going to get involved in this lifestyle, they therefore should do their own shopping, and that means for ALL feminine apparel, articles, etc. If they are too shy to do this, they are in the wrong lifestyle.. They can't constantly "hide behind " someone else to do the work for them, and they take all the "credit ".. To thine ownself be true.. Rachelle In High Heels
